$200,000 in Vendor-Backed Warranty Coverage

Your managed security package includes up to $200,000 in warranty protection backed directly by SonicWall and N-able Cysurance — not a separate insurance policy you purchase, but coverage that comes with properly configured and documented security controls.

This page explains what’s covered, what’s required to qualify, and what the warranties don’t cover.

 Start With a Security Assessment

Find out where you stand before evaluating coverage options

This page is relevant if:
  • You’ve completed a security assessment and are evaluating managed security options
  • You’re comparing IT providers and want to understand what warranty coverage is included
  • Your cyber insurance application asks about vendor-backed protections or deductible buy-down
  • You want to understand the specific differences between Standard and Full Stack coverage tiers

Coverage Tiers

Your warranty coverage level depends on which security controls are in place and documented. Most clients start with Standard Protection and add the Full Stack tier when they’re ready to include 24/7 threat detection and security training.

Standard Protection

$100,000
What’s required:
  • SonicWall managed firewall with security services
  • N-able Cove immutable backups
  • Configuration per warranty specifications
  • Documented configuration snapshots on file
SonicWall Firewall Warranty covers:

DDoS attack business interruption (up to $50,000), unauthorized access incidents (up to $50,000), forensic investigation costs, and recovery and restoration expenses. One qualifying event per year.

Full Stack Protection

$200,000
Everything in Standard, plus:
  • 24/7 threat detection with Adlumin MDR
  • Ongoing security awareness training
  • Monthly phishing simulations
  • Documented compliance evidence
Additional N-able Cysurance coverage:

Ransomware payments (up to $50,000), business email compromise (up to $50,000), compliance fines and penalties (up to $25,000), and business interruption losses (up to $25,000). Combined total: $200,000 in warranty protection.

These warranties aren’t insurance you purchase separately — they’re backed by the technology vendors themselves. Your environment must meet specific security requirements. If those requirements are met and an incident occurs anyway, the warranty provides recovery funding.

The Components of Warranty-Backed Protection

The $100,000 firewall warranty requires proper firewall configuration and immutable backups. The additional $100,000 N-able Cysurance warranty requires 24/7 MDR and ongoing security training. Each component addresses a specific attack vector.

Managed Firewall

Your SonicWall firewall must run Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention, Geo-IP Filter, and Botnet Filter — all actively licensed and configured to SonicWall’s specifications. We maintain firmware updates within 30 days of release and store configuration snapshots required for warranty claims.

Immutable Backups

Immutable means ransomware cannot encrypt, modify, or delete your backup copies — even with admin credentials. N-able Cove creates write-once, read-many backup archives that survive ransomware attacks. Standard file copying or snapshot backups don’t qualify. Recovery procedures are tested quarterly.

24/7 Threat Detection

Managed Detection and Response (MDR) through Adlumin means a Security Operations Center monitors your endpoints around the clock for suspicious behavior. The MDR agent must be installed and actively reporting on all endpoints. Required for the $200K tier because ransomware and BEC attacks need real-time detection, not passive antivirus.

Security Awareness Training

Combined with MDR, this unlocks the additional $100,000 in N-able Cysurance coverage for ransomware and business email compromise. Training includes monthly security modules, automated phishing simulations, and documented completion tracking. The warranty requires both MDR and training because most successful breaches start with a compromised employee credential.

What These Warranties Don’t Cover

The warranty providers are specific about exclusions. Understanding what’s not covered helps you decide whether you need additional cyber insurance (most businesses do).

Social Engineering Fraud

If an employee is tricked into wiring money or changing direct deposit information without actual account compromise, the BEC warranty doesn’t apply. The warranty specifically excludes social engineering that results in voluntary funds transfer.

Configuration Violations

If your firewall wasn’t configured per SonicWall’s specifications, patches weren’t applied within 60 days, or the MDR agent wasn’t installed on affected systems, the warranties don’t apply. This is why we maintain configuration snapshots and update documentation.

Volumetric DDoS Attacks

The SonicWall warranty covers non-volumetric DDoS (protocol and application attacks) but excludes massive bandwidth flooding attacks. Those require upstream ISP mitigation that’s outside the firewall’s control.

Multiple Events Per Year

Each warranty covers one qualifying event per calendar year. If you experience a DDoS attack in March and ransomware in November, each warranty covers its respective incident. But two ransomware events in one year means only the first qualifies under that warranty.

These warranties complement cyber insurance — they don’t replace it. Most of our clients carry $1–2M in cyber liability insurance. The warranties act as a first-response funding source and can sometimes be applied as deductible buy-down on larger insurance policies.

How Most Clients Get Here

The typical path starts with a security assessment that identifies gaps in firewall configuration, backup strategy, or both. Once those foundational controls are in place — a properly configured SonicWall with all security services active and N-able Cove immutable backups replacing standard file-copy backups — the environment qualifies for $100,000 in warranty coverage for DDoS attacks and unauthorized access incidents.

The second tier is a logical progression when the business is ready. Adding Adlumin MDR gives you 24/7 threat detection and response across all endpoints. Adding monthly security training (approximately 15 minutes per employee per month) with automated phishing simulations qualifies for the additional $100,000 in N-able Cysurance coverage for ransomware, business email compromise, compliance fines, and business interruption.

Most clients follow this progression: start with managed firewall and immutable backups, then add MDR and security training when budget allows. The firewall and backup components are foundational — they prevent the most common attacks. MDR and training address the more sophisticated threats that target people rather than systems.

Technical Requirements for Warranty Qualification

The warranty providers specify exact configuration requirements. We audit your environment against these standards and maintain the documentation required for warranty claims.

Firewall Configuration

Latest SonicOS firmware with critical updates within 30 days. All security services (Gateway AV, Anti-Spyware, IPS, Geo-IP, Botnet Filter) licensed and active. Configuration snapshot (TSR) on file for claims documentation.

Backup & Recovery

N-able Cove immutable backups with cloud-based immutable storage. System-level imaging, not just files. Verified disaster recovery procedures with quarterly backup testing. Recovery time objectives documented.

Security Controls

MFA on email and VPN. MDR agent on all endpoints (for $200K tier). Patch management within 60 days. Security training with documented completion (for $200K tier). Log data retention for claims support.

We maintain these configurations as part of our managed security package. If you haven’t completed a security assessment yet, that’s the first step to understanding where your environment stands relative to these requirements.

Start With a Security Assessment

The assessment evaluates your current environment against the warranty requirements and identifies what’s already in place, what needs attention, and what it takes to qualify for coverage. It’s complimentary and takes about 30 minutes.
