What is GoToConnect?

Originally released as Jive, the GoToConnect platform is your phone system in the Cloud. Combining enterprise-class PBX (Private Branch Exchange) functionality and service into a reliable hosted solution offering all the advanced features of an enterprise PBX system at a fraction of the cost.

What is included?

Some of the 80 included hosted VoIP features are-

  • Custom Schedules- Custom schedules come standard with GoToConnect, allowing users to configure time-based call routing for open/closed business hours, holidays, and special events.
  • Call, Meet, Message- Your Way- Easily communicate internally or externally via your browser, a downloadable desktop app, a desk phone or your own mobile device. GoToConnect keeps everyone in your business connected, wherever they are.
  • Seamless Voice and Video- GoToConnect combines the power and reliability of VoIP with GoToMeeting’s web audio and video conferencing into one simple, fast, easy to use solution.
  • Auto Attendants- Organizations can set up automated answering options without additional hardware or cost. Routing calls to a dial menu, using custom hold music or recorded voice, and enabling after-hours service and call routing is done easily with a drag-and-drop web interface. Auto attendants route callers to the right person without bogging down your staff.
  • Fax-to-Email- Built in eFaxing capabilities streamline fax transmissions by sending and receiving them via email.  No more printing dozens of pages just to rescan in the page you need. No more dedicated fax lines.
  • Voicemail-to-Email- Users can personalize call settings, forward voicemails and faxes automatically to their email inbox and access them from anywhere. 
  • Visual Dial Plan Editor- Administrators can configure, update, and customize complex dial plans quickly and easily via a web-based, drag-and-drop interface.
  • Find Me/Follow Me- Users can be accessible via a single number regardless of their physical location. By setting up an activity profile, calls are automatically routed to the correct device and location whether mobile or desk phone, or can be set to ring both simultaneously. This ensures users never miss an important call.
  • Remote Workers- Cloud voice services eliminate the boundaries traditionally associated with office telephones. Since the PBX is Cloud-based, phone traffic can be routed to any location connected to the Internet, and functions typically exclusive to the office location can be accessed anywhere. This flexibility has far-reaching implications for mobile workers, geographically dispersed call centers, and organizations with multiple locations. The available-anywhere capability of Cloud voice extends to all system features, from voicemail and fax to call routing, transferring, and personal dial plan configurations. With an On-Premises solution, this same functionality is difficult, if not impossible to achieve.

How To Get It

There’s two ways to get started.  The Do It Yourself way where you set up your account, enter your users and information, set up your dial plan, policies, security settings, groups, roles and apps and perform any needed network and firewall configuration.  It sounds complicated but people have done it.
